Letting God Help You

Letting God Help You

More than anything else, I am writing this blog post to remind myself of where my own heart needs to be.

Today, I came across a verse that I hadn’t seen before (Or, if I had, I didn’t remember it). In the passage, the Lord speaks the following words to those who have already joined the Church:

“And after their temptations, and much tribulation, behold, I, the Lord, will feel after them, and if they harden not their hearts, and stiffen not their necks against me, they shall be converted, and I will heal them.”  -Doctrine and Covenants 112:13

This verse really resonated with me for several reasons. There are so many great lessons in this one sentence.

I feel privileged to belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The reason I stay a member is because of the undeniable witnesses I have received from the Holy Ghost that it is true. Secularists mock this, but I don’t care. I know what I’ve experienced.

Wrapping My Mind Around Eternity

As anyone who likes sports, flambé cooking or catching lizards can tell you – it is important to be “in the moment”. If you let your guard down or get distracted in the heat of battle or the heat of the kitchen, you will get burned. The ability to be present in the present is a virtue that should be sought after. Luckily for us, the world we live in seems to be a great training ground for developing this skill. Unless you’re a Jedi, even routine activities like driving on the freeway require your attention in the now. So much thought is given to today that we rarely have time to think about the concept of eternity – let alone even begin to comprehend it.
